The Power of Design…

The Power of Design…
Somebody just recently brought this Ketubah in for framing.   Their wedding was a while ago, it was neatly packed and stored away for some time.  She searched and searched for framing ideas and frame shops on-line. She didn't just want to take her precious Art anywhere.   Finally a mutual friend and client of ours recommended The Frame Studio to her and she came in.  We frame a lot of different Ketubah's, wedding invitations or shadow boxes, but have to say, this is one of the most beautiful and unique pieces we have seen.  The challenge was to find the special colors and style to complime...

Good, Better, Best!

Good, Better, Best!
"Good, better, best.  Never let it rest. Until your good is better and the better is the best!"  We all remember this rhyme from grade school that teaches us about adjectives. If you have ever been to THE FRAME STUDIO, you have seen our GOOD, BETTER, BEST wall.  It shows how using different framing choices can completely transform a piece of art.  One of the most obvious differences in these three pieces is seen in the type of glass that is used. The GOOD glass on the left has a special UV coating that reflects 99% of the UV rays to protect the colors of the art from fading over time, an...

Good, Better, Best : What should you invest?

Good, Better, Best : What should you invest?
At THE FRAME STUDIO we understand that custom framing is a very personal thing.  Each person sees things differently, each persons home is designed to their own taste and style is what you want it to be.  Additionally each person places a different value on the objects they bring into their life, including the frames that surround them. We have always worked closely with our clients to put together top of the line, custom frames that suit the art and the atmosphere where it resides for generations. To help our clients understand their options we created a display that features three ways...

Guy Harvey – The Man and the Sea

Our client had these 8 Guy Harvey pieces for years and years in the simple black wood frames that they were purchased in. They were originally two pieces per frame. Even though she loved them, her taste had changed and those black frames just "DID NOT GO".   With her decorator, they came into our custom frame shop in Fort Lauderdale, and choose this fabulous warm toned Larson Juhl frame and fillet for the project.  Bela had a vision to frame each one individually so that it could tell the story of "The Man and the Sea".   We picked out a light green bottom mat that really brought out the water...

Hand Painted Italian Glass Tiles

Hand Painted Italian Glass Tiles
From time to time we all come across works of art that we are drawn to.  Often those art pieces are not framed and therefore there is no good way to display them.  So even though we love them, we tuck them away in a drawer, under the bed or in an already overstuffed closet. These two Picasso inspired, Morano Glass tiles were purchased in Italy during a family vacation.  Then they sat in a drawer for over a year.  She didn't forget about them, she just wasn't sure what to do with them. One of our frequent clients was a good friend of hers, they recommended she come see our local frame s...

Double Fillet ~ ohhh la la

Peter and Jesus had the idea to use the same fillet twice when framing their 20x24.  The result is really top notch.  If you look closely the fillet outlines the portrait, and then is used again up against the moulding.  This was their idea and it looks great. Roma ~ 3.5" Metro in Black Iron fillet/mat/fillet and museum glass. Nice Job fella's.  I hope Ashke approves.  :-)

The Bartelmo’s family portraits…

Carol wanted a family portrait for years, so when she finally convinced her husband to do it... they got TWO! The first one is a 30x40 Hand Tinted Portrait with a Larson Juhl Castilano frame and fillet (of course museum glass).  Just gorgeous. The 2nd one is for the family room.  It's natural color and will be hung in between two long series frames (top and bottom).  They include pictures of mom with each kid, and a dad series too. This 20x20 Square portrait is Natural Color and is framed in Roma's Stone Etched Bronze.  Complete with fillet and museum glass also.  Fun! Fun! Fun!

In memory of dad

Dave's dad retired from the fire department after 40 years.  The guys created this piece and signed it to honor him.  It hadn't been framed properly, so 30 years later the colors had turned and it was in danger of being destroyed forever. We gave it a new look and used a mat that would compliment the aging original paper.  Dave uses museum glass on everything and that alone made a huge improvement.  This simple framing restoration will preserve this piece for generations to come.

Lake Como

I'm in love with this piece.  It looks so good framed.  We pulled out all the stops including the museum glass.  I want to take it home so bad, but have decided to keep it in the store for all to enjoy.  It's in our Fort Lauderdale frame shop, front window now. This piece came from Artaissance.  This online art gallery has so much to offer.  Everytime I go on with a client in my store, I want so many...!  If you would like to browse at home, just click the link.  Or, some people prefer to come in, have a cup of coffee and a snack as we c...
