Belated Happy Birthday Marilyn!!!

Belated Happy Birthday Marilyn!!!
A belated happy birthday goes out to Miss Marilyn Monroe who was born on June 1, 1926.  To celebrate, we thought we would share two great pieces of work that we recently custom framed at THE FRAME STUDIO.  The featured collage of Marilyn was made entirely of wine bottle labels, by Florida artist Billy Hoblik.  The other great collage that is framed in gold is by Nick Smith, a Scottish artist that uses color swatches to recreate famous works of art.  Two different collages of one glamourous lady.

Art Two Ways

Art Two Ways
We at THE FRAME STUDIO feel that seeing the same piece of art custom framed two different ways shows how much of a difference the frame can influence the way you view the art.  With this panoramic beach print, the only difference in the framing is the color of the exterior frame, but it sure changes the look of the picture, doesn't it?  The silver frame gives the picture a lighter beachy feel, while the black frame gives the picture a heavier stormy quality. It's something to think about when framing your art . . . not just if the frame goes with the art, but what feeling does it portray.

Framed Art Makes a Room

Framed Art Makes a Room
THE FRAME STUDIO Here at THE FRAME STUDIO, we believe that a room is never truly finished without framed art on the walls. Little's Photography did a fun family beach shoot with a client of ours, and they custom framed it to finish off their master bedroom.  What a difference a frame makes!

Reviving Your Art

Reviving Your Art
Do you have a piece of art that looks a little dated?  Fall in love with your art all over again by reframing it!  A customer brought in this Nicola Simbari print to THE FRAME STUDIO recently that she had framed quite a while ago.  She felt it needed something different.  We custom framed this piece to breathe new life into it.  The new matting colors make the art's brightness pop, the new frame balances with the size of the art better, and the museum glass takes care of the reflection so the art is more easily seen.  Now, the customer says she can't take her eyes off of it!!!

Here’s lookin’ at you . . .

Here’s lookin’ at you . . .
Mirrors aren't just for checking if you have brocolli in your teeth, they are a beautiful design tool.  They can expand a space, add light, and reflect that beautiful view you have out your window to carry it around the room! Here at THE FRAME STUDIO, we recently designed  a custom framed mirror for a client for a specific wall in her living room to reflect the exterior light, as well as the beautiful view.  This white laquer "Lavo" frame from Roma Moulding was exactly what the client envisioned for the space.  Now she has a design element that pulls the entire room together.

Running for Family and Justice

Running for Family and Justice
The recent Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon and Half Marathon brought runners from all over to town. One of those runners came to The Frame Studio to create a custom shadow box and frame. We have created previous shadow boxes  for Karen, from other races, but the contents of this box are a little extra special to her: a photo of her at the finish line, her time card (she finished in 2nd Place in her age category - a fantastic achievement), her number tag, her medal for participating but most treasured is the button she wore on her left hip as she ran. The button is in commemoration of her co...

18th Century Map

18th Century Map
While working here in Ft. Lauderdale I see a lot of interesting things get framed that catch my attention. Sometimes its full magazines or golf balls, other times its very beautiful artwork and awards. In this case its an 18th century map of Indonesia and surrounding regions. I think my appreciation for this map comes from all the surf videos I've seen that take place in Indonesia. Not only that but with this frames rough look makes the map show its age like its a treasure map and it has secrets that haven't been discovered yet. This was a simple framing but this piece still draws me in making...

A Night at the Movies

A Night at the Movies
When a movie is as classic and unforgettable as Pulp Fiction, it is necessary for the framing to reflect that. This completed piece does this perfectly with the combination of the matte, frame and fillet. The frame is a black Larson Juhl frame with an accent of silver around the edges.  Which is exactly what you want for a dark movie room where this piece is going to hang. The black matte intentionally doesn't match the black frame or the black poster.  This creates a nice separation that makes it easier to focus on the poster.  The fillet which matches the same style as the frame really makes...
