Reframing – 22 Years Later

Reframing – 22 Years Later
As many of us do when we graduate from college, I didn't think too much about how my diploma was framed.  I was a starving artist with big student loan payments, and went the ready-made frame way to display my diploma (see below).  This small piece of paper that I spent over $25,000 on, got jammed into a cheap frame and matt.  I went to art school!  My diploma should look a bit better than that!  Come on!  I work at THE FRAME STUDIO!  I am a picture framer! So I decided to reframe this expensive piece of paper - 22 years later. The first thing we had to contend with, was the damage that was...

Summer Storm Time is Here

Summer Storm Time is Here
Summer in Florida is time for daily thunderstorms.  THE FRAME STUDIO has many friends who like doing jig saw puzzles during those down times.  Clients of ours recently brought in a puzzle they had finished that is extra special.  This wooden puzzle is made by Liberty Puzzles.  The fun thing about Liberty's wooden puzzles is that they have a wide range of specialty pieces for each puzzle - like animals, people, and flowers. We think this custom framing design works well with the art, and helps show case the special pieces.  If you flip the frame over, the back has glass instead of a mounting...

Belated Happy Birthday Marilyn!!!

Belated Happy Birthday Marilyn!!!
A belated happy birthday goes out to Miss Marilyn Monroe who was born on June 1, 1926.  To celebrate, we thought we would share two great pieces of work that we recently custom framed at THE FRAME STUDIO.  The featured collage of Marilyn was made entirely of wine bottle labels, by Florida artist Billy Hoblik.  The other great collage that is framed in gold is by Nick Smith, a Scottish artist that uses color swatches to recreate famous works of art.  Two different collages of one glamourous lady.

Captivating Art

Captivating Art
We at THE FRAME STUDIO had a lot of fun with two cool client's of ours who have a three very interesting paintings done by artist Loui Jover.  Their idea was to frame the art to protect them after the damage that they had sustained while being unframed and folded during numerous moves. The art was so powerful, that simplicity became the key for the custom framing package.  A modern bright glossy white frame was used to contrast the aged and weathered look of the pieces to give them a more polished look.  Our client's loved the look, and so do we.

An Elegant Ketubah with an Simple Solution

An Elegant Ketubah with an Simple Solution
A Ketubah is a beautiful way to declare your love.  Many involve intricate illustrations, patterns, cut outs, and even embossed pieces of foil.  THE FRAME STUDIO recently had a client bring in this amazingly intricate lace cut ketubah for custom framing.  The only colors other than the white of the paper and the black of the text were a few spots of reflective gold leaf.  The simple white 8 ply mat that was chosen gives depth, while the matt gold board behind the ketubah shows through to accentuate the cut pattern in the paper without being as harsh as black or brown .  Both work along with th...

A Nice Surprise!

A Nice Surprise!
A Little's Photography client wanted to surprise his wife by framing a large family portrait from their beach shoot.  He said that the photo shoot was a fantastic experience; that it wasn't just the pictures that came from that day, it was also the memories of how much fun they had together during the shoot.  He believed his wife deserved to have the portrait up on the wall for everything she had done for their family as a constant reminder of how much she is loved. She was so amazed with the final product . . and the memories of that day came flooding back. We at THE FRAME STUDIO are ha...

Back to Nature

Back to Nature
We at The Frame Studio love nature.  Even more so, we love framing anything nature related.  With this Torres del Paine print that a client recently brought in, we really love the combination of  the rugged linen textured top mat combined with the smooth shocking orange underneath paired with the weathered black frame to make an amazing custom framed piece.  It really makes us want to put on our hiking boots and do nature stuff!

Art Two Ways

Art Two Ways
We at THE FRAME STUDIO feel that seeing the same piece of art custom framed two different ways shows how much of a difference the frame can influence the way you view the art.  With this panoramic beach print, the only difference in the framing is the color of the exterior frame, but it sure changes the look of the picture, doesn't it?  The silver frame gives the picture a lighter beachy feel, while the black frame gives the picture a heavier stormy quality. It's something to think about when framing your art . . . not just if the frame goes with the art, but what feeling does it portray.
